Framingham, MA, 1974 by Hughes and MacCarthy

This pair of two story commercial buildings sits just outside of Framingham Center. Made of muted brick and concrete, the tone and materials are meant to mimic the historic surroundings of the nearby common. The complex was originally designed around a landscaped courtyard anchored by a late 19th century carriage house turned restaurant, Liam’s Irish Pub. Unfortunately, the tavern was torn down in 2016 to make room for an IHOP and all green space was replaced with more parking.
