Design's Fun But Painting Pays Bills

This installation explores the question of 'why do people separate design from the arts?'. Each figure demonstrates a pose that any visual artist could take in this modern era. Furthermore, the sentence specifically compares painting and design, and yet the piece itself is entirely sculpture. Finally, the sentence reads both ways, taking advantage of the staircase it was installed in. Painting's fun, but design pays bills or Design's fun, but painting pays bills. People put up mental barriers between the visual arts, and this project seeks to tear them down.
