Concrete Wandering

Concrete Wandering is made up of four separate spaces each with a distinct element—Loud, Quiet, Light, and Dark—arranged to hide a Sacred Space from visitors initially. To obscure the space, we each decided on one of a series of strategies. I chose the labyrinth strategy, using a series of corridors to purposefully disorient visitors. I simplified the concept to make each of these spaces into a corridor. As the diagram on the left illustrates, these four blocks were interlaced and distorted to create spaces which reflect and respond to their respective design element. One block was then pulled upward to create an outdoor sacred space wrapped in the building.
